The Firstborn purged his bedroom today. He finished a crossword puzzle in his Wordly Wise book, did two Daily Gram pages, practiced a bit of cursive. He drew a narration of the Story of the World chapters he’s been listening to on CD at night; the picture included the Alamo and the Opium Wars.

Sunshine did a math excerize in her Singapore book. She practiced Italic writiing and did a lesson of Explode the Code, book 6. She drew a lifesize picture of a woman in a black ball gown and painted it. The cleavage on the poor gal is rather large but her eyes twinkle.

W worked on  Go For the Code. He also drew a lifesized picture of a boy and painted it. The skin color is bright red, which looks a bit garish.

I read The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales to them all. Daddy read to them a poem about war and memorials, and they went over the soldier casualty numbers for all the American wars. They spent two hours in the park and will now have ice cream cones before dinner. Later we’ll begin Little House on the Prairie as a read-aloud.

It’s hot and we are all slow and languid today. Laundry hangs on the line, smelling sweet and warm. The garden would like a drink of water. Lemonade and the porch swing calls.
