Weekend Log

Books we are reading: The Borrowers, Pinoccio, Sister Wendy’s book of Saints, Sister Wendy’s Natvity, At the Corner of East and Now by Frederica Matthews-Green, Celtic Blessings, Exploring the Labyrinth.

Movies we have watched: Eight Below, The Princess Diaries, Chocolat
TV Shows we have watched: Growing Up Creepy, Popular Mechanics for Kids, country music videos

Art projects we have done: made framed “murals” of the three times of day for a sort of “call to prayer”, with “prayer ropes” and selected one-line prayers to say at each knot; colored designs on graph paper with coordinating backgrounds and folded like cards.

Walks we have taken: around the block looking for snakes, along the traintracks, up the hill to sell cub scout popcorn

Games we have played: counting money to raise money for an animal shelter, roller blading races around the loop, tag, hide and seek

Things we have eaten: ritual Happy Saturday pancakes, Tuscan bean sandwiches, ice cream banana splits, Butternut Bisque, Sausage Cheese casserole with hot chocolate, and a Shepherd’s Pie

Beauties we have been overwhelmed by: a sleeping baby’s face on my shoulder, the vibrant fall color against piercingly blue skies, warm sunshine on our backs as we read on a blanket, wholesome food that nourishes mind, body and soul, seeing our children enthusiastic about prayer, the drowsy sound of guitar music on a chilly fall night…
